As part of routine system maintenance, the Private Garden and Public Gate Virtual Private Gateways (VPGs) in Japan Coverage will undergo maintenance according to the following schedule.
During the maintenance period, networking services provided by these VPGs will not be available, and SIMs configured to connect to these VPGs will not be able to send or receive data.
Impact - SIMs in Global Coverage that belong to a group that is configured to use either of the affected VPGs may experience trouble sending and receiving data during the maintenance period. To check if your SIMs will be affected, open the group configuration, select the SORACOM Air for Cellular configuration panel, and check the Virtual Private Gateway setting. - SIMs in Global Coverage that are configured to use a VPG other than listed above, or that are not configured to use a VPG, will not be affected. Similarly, SIMs in Japan Coverage will not be affected.
Required Actions - Some devices may not be configured to automatically reconnect. Once maintenance is complete, you may need to restart your device in order to reconnect and resume normal connectivity. - Once your device reconnects after maintenance is complete, the private IP address assigned to your device may change. If you are using the Public Gate VPG in order to remotely connect between devices, please check the IP address(es) assigned to your devices and update your device settings accordingly.
If you are currently using the Private Garden or Public Gate VPGs, you may also consider one of the following alternative methods to prevent your SIMs from being affected by this maintenance:
- To establish the same functionality of Public Gate: Create a VPG Type-E or Type-F, enable the SORACOM Gate option, and reconfigure your group settings to use the VPG. Reference: https://developers.soracom.io/en/docs/gate/#device-to-device-access - To establish the same functionality of Private Garden: Create a VPG Type-E or Type-F, enable the VPG Outbound Filter option, and reconfigure your group settings to use the VPG. Reference: VPG outbound routing filter https://developers.soracom.io/en/docs/vpg/outbound-filter/
If you have any concerns or would like additional information, please contact the Soracom support team at your earliest convenience.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
